How we build reading lists

Our editors research bestseller lists, reader favorites, book-club picks, and librarian recommendations to build every list. Every recommendation includes a reason — why we picked it.

Research-based vs. personally read

Some lists are built from careful research rather than personal reading. Research-based roundups carry the line: ‘Our editors researched reader favorites, bestseller lists, and book-club picks to build this list.’ We never invent reading experiences.

No paid placements

Recommendations are never sold. If we ever accept paid placements, they will be clearly labeled and disclosed.

Affiliate links

Some links may earn us a commission at no extra cost to you (see our Affiliate Disclosure). Commissions never influence our picks.

Keeping lists fresh

We review lists periodically and show update dates on articles so you know what’s current.
